OPERATION TAKE BACK NEW JERSEY/
PRESCRIPTION DRUG DROP OFF PROGRAM
Lower Township Police to collect unwanted/expired prescription (RX) drugs.

Lower Township Police Chief, Brian Marker recently announced that the Lower Township Police Department will once again be participating in Operation Take Back New Jersey, known last year as Operation Medicine Cabinet, whereby residents can turn in any unwanted or expired prescription medicines or drugs to their local police departments.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Lower Township residents and visitors can turn over any unwanted or expired prescription medications that they may have in their medicine cabinets, in the main lobby of the Lower Township Public Safety Building located in the Cape May County Airport Complex off of Breakwater Road in the township’s Erma Section.

The program is anonymous and individuals disposing of medications will not be required to produce identification.

Residents may dispose of medication either in its original container or by removing medication from its container and disposing directly into the drug disposal box located at the police department.

If the original container is submitted, residents are encouraged to remove the prescription label if it contains any personal identifying information.

Liquid products, such as cough medicines, should remain sealed in their original containers.

Syringes and other sharp instruments will not be accepted.

The event is sponsored by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration and The State Attorney General’s Office in cooperation with the New Jersey National Guard.

LTMUA Utilizing Lower Township's Reverse 911 System for Emergency Calls

reverse911

The LTMUA has joined forces with Lower Township to utilize the Reverse 911 emergency notification system.  The System is a web-based system administered by Global Connect and utilized by the Township and local Emergency Management coordinator to contact residents in the cases of emergencies, Amber Alerts, storm warnings, heat emergencies and other important issues.

The LTMUA will utilize the system to notify Lower Township residents of water and sewer main breaks, water emergencies, water restrictions and hydrant flushing.  This system will allow the LTMUA to notify residents within minutes of a water or sewer emergency in your immediate area.  It will also allow the LTMUA to notify residents of semi-annual hydrant flushing to reduce the confusion of when the water mains on your street will be flushed.

The Reverse 911 system has been in place in the Township since 2009 and was funded by a New Jersey State grant so residents may be notified in the event of an emergency. Currently the Township and the Emergency Management department notify residents for Amber Alerts, storm warnings, heat emergencies and other important issues happening in the Township.

The system can outline an area, section, or even a single street and broadcast an emergency notice.  The system utilizes the telephone companies listing of all registered telephone numbers.  It will also notify residents on their cellular telephones if the residents register with the Reverse 911 system.

To register your cellular telephone number so you may receive these important notices, please click the Global Connect banner above.

Lower Township MUA and Lower Township jointly share municipal services in an effort to reduce duplication of services and expenses in an effort to reduce cost to the residents and taxpayers of the Township.
